Joshua Tree Rules!
It is a magical place like I mentioned, and it remains that way because of conservation efforts and a few rules. If you'd like to get married inside the park there are a few things to consider.
Location
Weddings are allowed at Cap rock, Queen Valley Mine, Split Rock, Turkey Plats, Quail Springs Picnic Area, Lost Horse Parking Lot, Indian Cove Amphitheater, Porcupine Wash, and Ratllesnake Picnic Area,
Permits
A special use permit, which is $120 is required for any wedding or elopement in Joshua Tree no matter the size or the location. Dates are subject to availability and so it is recommended that you start the permitting process in advance.
Allowed
1. A wedding arbor or arch. 2. A rug or runner. 3. Real or artificial flowers are permitted, but dried flowers and pampas grass are not allowed. 4. A cooler. 5. A guestbook table. 6. Cake or champagne. 7. Electric candles. All desired items must be specified in your initial application for the special use permit.
Not Allowed
1. Amplified music, speakers, microphones. 2. Releasing or throwing items such as balloons, bubbles or bird seed. 3. Decorations. 4. Furniture, but exceptions can be made for those with special needs. 5. Drones
6. Unattended food. 7. Blocking traffic. 8. Restricting use to other park guests. 9. Use of any fire device like fireworks, real candles, or smoke bombs. 10. Pets, although some exceptions can be made.
