Why do we even get photos taken?: A note to those who don't care for getting their photos taken

There are so many reasons people want to get photos done. To get dressed up. To document this particular stage in your family. To have beautiful art to hang on your walls that reminds you of your amazing family. These are all great reasons for having family portraits, or having professional wedding photography, newborn photo sessions, and birthday sessions.

For someone who dislikes having photos done there must be something more to it, and so I love to give those folks my view. My company mission is "Capturing the love and heritage of families for generations who have not yet met this earth."

SOMEONE SOMEDAY IS GOING TO WANT TO KNOW ABOUT YOU.

It's really hard to imagine and even harder to talk about it, but one day you'll be dead. You'll be a soul vanished, watching over the people you care about. Those folks will want memories of you, and that is why you should commit to documenting you every few years.

Fast forward even further and every person who ever knew you in life will also be dead. I started to think of that fact a lot when my kids and I watched the movie Coco. Someone someday is going to want to know about you, and there will be no one who knew you to tell your story. I hope that in my work, my client's stories will be told when there is no one left to tell them.

HERITAGE PHOTOGRAPHY IS ALL ABOUT TELLING THE STORY OF A FAMILY

Each family is so different, comprised of different members. Sisters, fathers, grandparents, uncles, people we call aunt but have no relation to by blood, mothers, brothers and many beautiful people make up each unique family. Sometimes there is divorce or death. There are also new births and surprises. This is all the story of a family and it deserves to be preserved and documented. Heritage photography is all about telling the story of a family.
