Kinda chic to run multiple businesses.

Last year, my photography business was struggling badly. I took many jobs that did not honor the quality of my work because we needed food on the table.

I didn’t love that feeling, of undercharging for ART. I changed the whole game. A year later, I’m in a completely different place. My photography business has grown tremendously, and I’m no longer willing to undercharge for work I’ve spent years perfecting.

A huge part of that shift has been having other streams of income. I do real estate, owner acquisition for a property management company, and I occasionally substitute teach in my local school district (the bachelor’s degree finally came in handy 🤷‍♀️). Those businesses have allowed me to take some of the financial pressure off my photography—which means I can protect the work I love, take the jobs I actually want, and charge what it’s worth.

Do I feel bad that I don’t always make ends meet with Sarah Nicole Photo? I used to. The fact is that it’s okay! Creative entrepreneurship is HARD. Having multiple income streams is the best thing I’ve ever done for my photo business. I like having options.
I like my art. I like my independence. I like lattes. And occasionally I would like to buy something rediculously soft at @industryofallnations. It’s called balance. 😂☕️🛍️
