A Joshua Tree Couples Session—with Cats

I wasn't supposed to photograph these two—or their cats. I had just finished an early-morning maternity session in Joshua Tree National Park when they approached me at Cap Rock with a problem: their photographer had never shown up. They had come to the desert ready for photographs, cats included, and asked if I happened to have time for one more session. As luck would have it, I did. So I photographed my very first couple-with-cats session among the Joshua trees and granite boulders of Cap Rock. Completely unplanned, a little unusual, and exactly the kind of morning that reminds me why I love photographing people in Joshua Tree.
