A Heartfelt Maternity Session in the Palm Springs Desert
This dreamy maternity session took place at Ship Rock, one of the lesser-known gems in Palm Springs—quiet, sun-drenched, and full of soft desert magic. Brian and Chloe had flown in from Chicago, planning a little getaway before welcoming their first baby, and I’m so glad they found me. They reached out after seeing my name on Reddit (my favorite kind of inquiry—Reddit clients always seem to get me), and I could tell from their first message that we were a perfect fit.
As a Palm Springs maternity photographer, I’m always looking for that blend of setting, emotion, and light—and this one had all three.
From Chicago to the California Desert
Brian and Chloe live downtown in the city, but they’re originally from the East Coast. We clicked immediately when I found out we’d both spent time in Chicago—I lived there for years, and there’s something about Midwestern people that feels familiar in the best way. Their easy warmth and gentle sense of humor made the whole afternoon flow effortlessly.
Chloe wore a breezy striped linen dress she rented from Rent the Runway. It had just the right balance of casual elegance, and paired perfectly with Brian’s relaxed, coordinated look. The colors played beautifully off the desert tones—sun-faded earth, pale rock, and wide blue sky.
Personal Touches & Desert Keepsakes
Some of my favorite details from this maternity shoot at Ship Rock were the thoughtful props they brought. A tiny onesie that read “Dudley’s Buddy,” in honor of their cat back home. A cactus-themed board book they’d just picked up on the trip—the very first gift they ever bought for their baby. And a soft blanket from their boutique hotel, Les Cactus, where they were staying. We took time to sit down and flip through the book, sharing a moment of calm together under the late afternoon light.
These simple objects made the session feel grounded and real—less about posing, and more about memory-making.
The Emotion Behind the Images
There’s something sacred about photographing two people standing at the edge of parenthood. We talked about what they were expecting, how they were feeling, and all the little things that can’t be put into words—only felt. The wind moved gently through the canyon, and their quiet joy was the kind that sticks with you long after the camera is packed away.
As a maternity photographer in Palm Springs, it’s this kind of honest connection that I look for in every session. No stress, no pressure—just presence.
Planning Your Palm Springs Maternity Session
Whether you're planning a baby moon, celebrating a new chapter, or simply want to capture your pregnancy in a setting that feels calm and beautiful, I’d love to help you plan your Palm Springs maternity photos. This desert has a rhythm all its own—one that lends itself to reflection, celebration, and golden light.
If Ship Rock speaks to you, or if you’re dreaming of nearby spots like Joshua Tree or Pioneertown, reach out. I’d be honored to tell a piece of your story, too.
