The Joshua Tree Photographer

Palm Springs | Joshua Tree | California

Family, Maternity & Engagement Portraits

Families change slowly—and then all at once. I photograph families with an observant eye and an unhurried approach, paying attention to the small moments that often go unnoticed: the way people naturally stand together, the familiar rhythms, the humor, the tenderness.

My sessions are designed to feel relaxed and human, not performative or rushed. This is not about perfect behavior or matching outfits. It’s about presence, connection, and creating photographs that feel honest now and meaningful years from now.

What to Expect

Family sessions are photographed with gentle guidance and plenty of space for things to unfold naturally. I’ll offer direction when it’s helpful and step back when it’s not—allowing real interactions to take the lead.

Sessions are photographed using a blend of digital and 35mm film when it serves the moment. Film is part of my process, used thoughtfully to bring softness, texture, and a sense of longevity to the final gallery. The result is a collection of images that feels cohesive, intentional, and deeply personal—photographs meant to be lived with, not just posted.

Location & Travel

Based in Joshua Tree and the High Desert, I photograph family sessions throughout Palm Springs and the surrounding desert.

I’m also happy to travel for families who feel drawn to a particular place—whether that’s the coast, the mountains, or somewhere that simply feels like home.

Landscape matters. Light matters. Where you are becomes part of the story.

Investment

Family portrait sessions begin at $575.

Each session includes planning guidance and a thoughtfully edited gallery. Film is incorporated intuitively as part of my approach.

Let's Connect!

If this approach resonates, I’d love to work together.

Family photographs have a long life. My goal is to make images you’ll return to—year after year—as things shift, grow, and change.

My husband and I had an amazing experience working with Sarah, and highly recommend her for newborn photos! On top of her beautiful work, she was very easy to work with and delivered the images in a timely manner! Highly, highly, highly recommend!
